To examine and assess the title, theme, images, scenes, sound, and translated text of films and film advertisements prior to their distribution and/or public exhibition.
To protect the public from the negative impacts of films and film advertisements that are not aligned with the principles, direction, and objectives of Indonesian cinema.
To formulate guidelines for the issuance and revocation of film censorship certificates.
To intensively socialize the censorship guidelines and criteria to film and advertisement owners, to encourage the production of high-quality content.
To facilitate the public in selecting and enjoying high-quality films and advertisements, and in understanding their influence.
To assist film and advertisement owners in providing accurate and complete information to the public, enabling them to choose and enjoy quality content.
To monitor public appreciation of films and film advertisements that are distributed or exhibited, and to analyze the results for future censorship considerations and/or to provide recommendations to the Minister for policy development in the Indonesian film industry.
